Anthropic Wipes $10B+ Off Cybersecurity Stocks in 60 Minutes
Anthropic launched Claude Code Security on Thursday. Within one hour, cybersecurity stocks were in freefall.
CrowdStrike down 8%. Okta down 9.2%. JFrog down 25%. Cloudflare down 8%. The Global X Cybersecurity ETF hit its lowest point since November 2023.
The tool scans codebases for vulnerabilities and suggests fixes. Unlike traditional security scanners that use rule-based detection, Claude Code Security reasons about your code like a human security researcher would.
During internal testing, it found 500+ previously unknown high-severity vulnerabilities in production open-source codebases.
A Cardiologist Won 3rd Place at Anthropic’s Hackathon by Vibe Coding
Michał Nedoszytko is a practicing interventional cardiologist in Brussels. Zero coding experience. He just placed 3rd at Anthropic’s hackathon out of 13,000 submissions.
He built PostVisit.ai in 7 days while working hospital shifts. It’s a “reverse AI scribe” that guides patients from the moment they leave the doctor’s office.
Vibe-coded the whole thing. Classic.
Boris Cherny (head of Claude Code) said it on Lenny’s Podcast the same day the hackathon ended: “I think at this point it’s safe to say coding is largely solved. At least for the kinds of programming that I do, it’s just a solved problem.”
Taalas’ 17,000 Tokens Per Second
A Canadian startup called Taalas just announced their HC1 chip.
Speed: 17,000 tokens per second (17x faster than OpenAI’s Codex Spark, 10x faster than Cerebras)
Cost: 10x cheaper to build than NVIDIA B200. 10x less power consumption.
Only runs Llama 3.1 8B. The model weights are hardwired into the chip. It supports fine-tuning via LoRAs, but the base model is permanent.
Meta Competing With OpenClaw
This week, Manus launched “Manus Agents” on Telegram, bringing autonomous AI agents directly into messaging apps.
Very similar to OpenClaw but Manus runs in Meta’s cloud sandbox. OpenClaw runs on your hardware. Manus costs $19-$199/month + all your data. OpenClaw is open source (you just pay API costs).
Manus hit $125M in annual revenue within 8 months of launch.
Grok 4.20
Elon finally shipped Grok 4.20. The model spawns 16 specialised AI agents that work together to solve any prompt.
_> Planner
_> Developer
_> Verifier
_> Researchers
This launched right after xAI lost 6 of 12 co-founders, got raided by French authorities over deepfake porn, and merged into SpaceX ahead of an IPO.
Pentagon Threatened to Blacklist Anthropic
The Department of Defense gave Anthropic an ultimatum. Either provide uncensored access to Claude for military applications, or face potential blacklisting from government contracts lmao.
Anthropic was founded by ex-OpenAI employees who left because OpenAI wasn’t taking safety seriously enough.
Now they’re getting squeezed by the Pentagon for having too many safety restrictions.
Moonshot Speedrun Raising
Moonshot Labs raised $700M last week. This week they’re raising another $500M.
That’s $1.2 billion in back-to-back rounds. No publicly disclosed valuation yet.
For contenxt: An ex-DeepMind researcher just raised Europe’s largest-ever seed round at $1B at a $4B valuation. And Europe announced a $13B fund to catch up with America in AI.
So much money the employers just might stop charging you for coffee when you come in the office (I might be overreaching with this one)
Stripe’s AI Agents Merged 1,300+ Pull Requests Last Week
Stripe disclosed that their AI coding agents autonomously merged 1,300+ pull requests last week. That’s up 30% from the week before.
Using AI to recursively improve their own AI infrastructure.
_> The coding agent writes better tools for itself.
_> Those tools make the next iteration faster.
_> Which writes even better tools.
_> Repeat.
Spotify’s doing it. Stripe’s doing it. Every major tech company is racing to build self-improving development pipelines.
